Skyline Collective was founded in 2019 by Michelle Wharton, who spent more than 15 years living overseas designing, developing and opening luxury hotels and resorts across the world, from London to the Maldives.
During her international career, Michelle worked with leading luxury hotel groups throughout China, where she developed longstanding relationships with manufacturers, artisans and suppliers that continue to benefit her clients today. These direct global connections provide access to exceptional materials, custom finishes and significant procurement savings that are rarely available through traditional design studios.
Deeply influenced by the world’s most beautiful resorts, Michelle’s approach to design centres around lifestyle. Every home is tailored to the people who live within it — creating spaces that feel calm, effortless and connected, with the relaxed sophistication of a luxury retreat.
One of Michelle’s greatest strengths is her exceptional ability to visualise a finished home long before construction begins. She has a natural talent for seeing how spaces can flow, how materials will work together and how a home will ultimately feel, allowing clients to confidently make decisions and see the bigger picture from the earliest stages of a project.
Her design aesthetic has been influenced by international design powerhouses including Shea McGee, Kate Walker Design and Kelly Hoppen, blending timeless interiors with warm, liveable spaces that feel both elevated and deeply personal. Michelle possesses an innate ability to style interiors that feel purposeful, layered and welcoming — homes that are as beautiful to live in as they are to look at.
Today, Skyline Collective is a boutique interior design and building consultancy studio based in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, working on projects throughout Australia. Combining interior design, building consultancy and global procurement expertise, the studio offers a uniquely integrated approach that delivers exceptional homes while helping clients make smarter financial decisions throughout the building process.
